Nissan's green car superstar, the Leaf mass market zero-emissions electric vehicle, will be showcased at the 2011 Johannesburg International Motor Show.

The car is the first in a series of EV's to be produced by Nissan but has already won accolades such as 2011 World Car of the Year and European Car of the Year.

Nissan SA's theme for the 2011 show is "Innovation and excitement for everyone" and the Japanese automaker's display will feature a range of vehicles showing advancements made in low-emissions technology, the company said.

SPECIAL TRACK

While Nissan's halo sports cars, the GT-R and 370Z, are not too renowned for their fuel-sipping qualities, other displays will include the new Micra and the Juke crossover SUV that will be in SA showrooms by the end of 2011.

A special track at the show will show off Nissan's 4x4 vehicles, including the Murano and Navara.

This year's Johannesburg auto show will be held at the Nasrec MTN Expo Centre from October 6-16, 2011.
