Imagine using public transport to your full advantage and privacy. Rinspeed had exactly that in mind when it designed the MicroMax. The little car is intended to revolutionise urban traffic after it makes its debut at the 2013 Geneva auto show in March.

The MicroMax is meant for short-distance transport and to merge personal and public transport, hence making it a new class of its own. It's 3.6m long – the size of a Mini – and offers plenty of space for a driver, three passengers and a baby-stroller or shopping trolley. So it’s like having a smaller version of a South African BRT bus, for one family.

LOUNGE COMFORT

It’s quite tall, too, at 2.2m, allowing for space-saving upright seats along with safety belts. Best of all, it's said to be like travelling in your own mobile living room.

The MicroMax comes with a coffee percolator, a fridge for baby bottles or happy-hour drinks and unlimited internet connectivity to work while on the move, watch a movie or check your Facebook updates.

The vehicle will be available in various modules so the MicroMax can even be a delivery van or taxi.
