Frankfurt - The world's motoring media descended on Frankfurt earlier in September for the largest car show on the calendar.

There were many models shown for the first time, including the new Audi RS 4. BMW showed off two new performance models on their way to South Africa in the form of the M5 (now with all-wheel drive) and the SA-built X3 M40i.

Performance cars galore

A car very popular in Mzansi is the ubiquitous Volkswagen Polo, which will be launched locally in the second half of 2018. The GTI model with 147kW was also on display.

Hyundai's Golf GTI rival, the i30N garnered lots of attention from the press and rightly so, it looks fantastic in the metal.

We've chosen seven cars shown at the Frankfurt motor show that will be introduced to South Africa in the next few months.

1. Volkswagen Polo - (second half of 2018)

2. Hyundai i30N - (2018)

3. Ford Fiesta ST - (2018)
