accreditation

The Launch will take place at the Durban Motor Show on the 24th of March. In addition the streets of central Durban will come alive with the sights, sounds and smells of a single-seater grand prix car on Good Friday ? March 25 with the world preview of the Altech Grand Prix Masters Car.

The car will be put through its paces by French Formula 1 hero Rene Arnoux, in a special street demonstration between 12h30 and 14h00. People of Durban are expected to turn out in full force to witness this world first. Brazilian motor racing superstar and former Formula 1 World Champion, Emerson Fittipaldi will also be in attendance.

The car is part of a 20-car grid for the inaugural event of the international Grand Prix Masters (GPM) racing series, and part of the Altech South African Grand Prix Race Weekend, which also features the Altech SA F1x2 South African Grand Prix, between 11 and 13 November at the Kyalami Grand Prix circuit in Gauteng.

Local residents of Durban may be affected by the demonstration, but the spectacle will be most worthwhile. The area affected by the street demonstration are the streets around the Durban Exhibition Centre, including Ordinance Street, Commercial Road, Walnut Street, Aliwal Street.

The street demonstration forms a highlight of the Durban Motor Show which takes place at the Durban Exhibition Centre between 24 and 28 March.

Organisers of the street demonstration have also secured the services of the Buell motor cycle team, while the Cobra and GT Ford Club of KwaZulu Natal will also be parading their vehicles during the parade.

More than 90 000 spectators witnessed the Altech South African F1x2 Grand Prix last year and organizers anticipate that there will be even more people clamouring to get tickets to this year?s event, which recently went on sale at Computicket, and Shoprite Checkers.

Beneficiaries of the Altech Grand Prix race weekend include the Nelson Mandela Children?s Fund and the Unite Against Hunger campaign, and many of Formula 1 heroes have thrown their weight behind the Altech Grand Prix event.
