Chana South Africa has also announced that it will drive Chana bakkies from the factory in Chongquing, China, to their South African head office in Northcliff, Johannesburg. This epic journey stretching around 17 000 km across often difficult terrain, is scheduled to commence mid 2007.
According to Christo Kruger, Communications and Marketing Manager for Chana South Africa, the vehicles will not be modified beyond that which a customer could expect to find on the showroom floor.
"We aim to underscore the quality, durability and reliability that is inherent to the Chana range and that is why we will not alter the fundamentals of the vehicles. Otherwise, what's the point?" added Kruger.
Corinna Howard from Outlook Africa has been investigating routes for the journey for past few months. Corinna has a wealth of experience in organising challenges of such magnitude. Geoff Dalglish will be the tour leader for what has been dubbed the 'Chana Trax'.
Geoff is no stranger to driving to remote locations on the planet, having most recently completed a journey from Dakar to Timbuktu and then to Cape Town.
More details about the Chana Trax will be made available at Auto Africa where Chana South Africa will hold their official launch.
