McLaren to debut 650S at Goodwood

  • 650S Spider to debut in the Supercar Paddock
  • Automotive design director, Frank Stephenson
  • 50 to be built

LONDON, England - McLaren Special Operations has confirmed production plans for a run of bespoke examples of the McLaren 650S.

Only 50 will be available globally as either Coupe or Spider. The production car will make its global debut, in Spider form, at the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed in England and will be seen on the hill-climb.

The 650S carries over many styling cues from the concept - MSO engineers worked closely with McLaren automotive design director Frank Stephenson.

GLOSS FINISH

The exterior of the car has a number of carbon-fibre styling upgrades with a satin finish, including extended MSO side blades. The three-piece rear bumper includes a carbon-fibre centre section and sits above a more assertive rear diffuser.

The 650s is available in three paint finishes: Papaya Spark is the modern twist on the famous McLaren orange. Agrigan Black is a metallic black with a deep ruby metallic flake. Sarigan Quartz is a new colour with a vibrant metallic silver and a subtle golden infusion - that's it on the image above.

The exterior design is finished with a set of 10-spoked alloy rims with a unique diamond-cut effect on the inside edge of each spoke. These wheels are held in place by light titanium bolts.

The cabin is upholstered with black leather and Alcantara and lacquered carbon-fibre detailing extends throughout.

For contrast, a gloss finish has been applied to the air vents and handling and powertrain switches on the 'active dynamics' panel A signature dedication plaque mounted to the  carbon-fibre sill panel completes the enhancements.
