Refined engine and transmission, new exterior and interior design… Kia’s refreshed Sportage SUV is in SA.
The upgraded Sportage will be available with a choice of engines - 2.0 D-CVVT petrol and a more powerful 2.0 VGT CRDi diesel - and three trim levels; entry level Ignite (petrol only), 2WD and AWD specifications (each available in petrol and diesel).

According to Kia: “The petrol engine is more refined and now paired with a six-speed manual and auto, resulting in improved fuel consumption.”
The 2.0 petrol is capable of 116kW/192Nm, the 2.0 diesel delivers 130 kW/382 Nm. The previous five-speed manual has been replaced with a six-speed and each engine is available with a six-speed auto.
NOISE REDUCTION
The steering on the diesel models changes from hydraulic to electric assistance. The enhanced Sportage claims to be more refined than the current model, with a number of changes “designed to minimise noise, vibration and harshness”.
The grille design has been changed, as have the fog lights, lower bumper and rear lights. The SUV has fresh 17” and 18” alloy rims. The re-designed rear combination lights are striking and add a touch of sportiness to the rear.
The cabin benefits from soft padding along the doors and the automaker’s IMG (in-mould graining) textures and trim throughout. The audio speakers have been repositioned to offer improve reproduction.
AWD models have a 10.6cm LCD screen, new facia and an Infinity sound system comprising sub-woofer, amplifier and hard drive for music storage. The centre console now has a detachable tray.
'RAISED THE BAR'
Kia SA marketing director David Sieff said: “It’s always a challenge to improve on a vehicle that has significantly raised the bar in the SUV space but the areas of focus for this facelift have again pushed the Sportage into the spotlight as a great car to live with and enjoy”
All Kia Sportage SUVs are sold with a five-year or 150 000km warranty (up from 100 000km), a five-year or 100 000 km service plan and three-years of roadside assistance.
