Despite a facelift received in 2014, Kia is already working on what will become its fourth-generation Sportage.

  • 'Value for money' Sportage
  • Exclusive TEC units
  • Limited numbers

JOHANNESBURG, Gauteng -  Kia South Africa has added two new additions to its Sportage SUV range - a duo of limited edition TEC models.

We already have spy shots of Kia's next Sportage, so it's safe to say in an attempt to eke sales from its outgoing SUV, Kia needed to be crafty.

The TEC units are based on the Sportage 2.0 CRDi auto and are available in front- and all-wheel drive.

The limited editions gain new 18" alloy rims, LED taillight clusters, TEC-badging and sunroof.

Inside, the TEC units gains heatable front seats and privacy glass. The front-wheel drive version has xenons, keyless entry (with stop/start) and a LCD display (standard on the all-wheel drive unit).

Both limited editions are powered by a two-litre turbodiesel capable of 130kW/392Nm, mated to a six-speed auto gearbox.

The addition of the TEC versions means the range swells to 12 derivatives, ranging from R339 995 for the 2.0 Ignite to R488 995 for the top-of-the-range Sportage Explore.
