The Patriot is a compact Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) and slots in above the Compass model.
Based on the Jeep Patriot concept first introduced at the 2005 Frankfurt Motor Show, the 2007 Jeep Patriot shares its underpinnings with that of the Compass.
Jeep is aiming the Patriot at compact SUVs such as the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V.

There are also Brake Traction Control, driver-controlled three-mode ESP, Brake Assist, Electronic Roll Mitigation and anti-lock brakes with rough-road detection.
It comes with Jeep's Freedom Drive I full-time, active four-wheel-drive system with a lockable centre coupling. Ground clearance is 204 mm while the vehicle has a 21-degree approach angle, a 33-degree departure angle and a 20-degree break-over angle.
The Patriot is unmistakably a Jeep and features the brand's signature seven-slot grille, a robust bumper and round headlights.
The rear of the vehicle features a bold bumper that adds to its rugged appearance.
This Jeep also has 17-inch alloy wheels fitted with all-season tyres housed in signature Jeep trapezoidal wheel openings.
Under the bonnet is Chrysler's 2.4-litre "World Engine" that produces 125 kW and 220 Nm of torque. A 5-speed manual or CVT auto transmission is available for this model.
A 2.0-litre common-rail diesel engine with a power output of 103 kW and 310 Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed manual transmission, is also available for Patriot.
