Is this Merc's answer to Beemer's X6?

BEIJING, China - Mercedes-Benz has revealed a concept coupé sports utility vehicle at the 2014 Beijing auto show.

The automaker said: "This coupe showcases a flowing sideline, stretched cabin and striking radiator grille with a central chromed louvre. It stands out with its muscular wings, large wheel arches, imposing 22" wheels and generous ground clearance."

A variable dynamic control system provides four fundamentally different transmission modes and a programmable set-up.

BAND OF LIGHTS

The four-door all-wheel drive is almost five metres long, two metres wide and is 1.7m tall. The grille, its single louvre bracketed by diode headlights, is the major feature of the front which has a short, stylish overhang.

The styling characteristics of at the rear include a slim band of tail lights with the rear registration plate incorporated in the rear bumper.

The rear under guard through whcih the tailpipes of the dual-flow exhaust system exit "makes a discreet SUV reference". Polished aluminium dominates there and on the door releases, the sills,front air intakes and the edging of the cabin.

Wide 22'' rims with 305/45 tyres give the Merc a wide stance.
