Hyundai SA expands little i10 range

Hyundai expands its popular i10 range to five derivatives with the addition of the 1.1 Motion auto.

The 1086 cc petrol, borrowed from its 1.1 Motion manual sibling, is mated to a four-speed auto (used in the 1.25 Fluid unit), driving power to the front wheels. The auto is the same

Fuel consumption is rated at 5.7 litres/100km.

Inside, the i10 1.1 Motion auto shares the same features found in the 1.1 Motion manual, including Bluetooth, MP3/CD audio, aircon with anti-bacterial pollen filter, fog lights, power adjustable and heated side mirrors, power windows and an intermittent function for the windscreen wipers.

It also has a height-adjustable steering wheel with satellite controls.

URBAN COMMUTER

Suspension is provided by MacPherson struts at the front and a coupled torsion beam axle with coil springs at the rear. The Hyundai i10 1.1 Motion auto runs on 165/60 R14 tyres fitted with 14" steel rims. It's equipped with a full size spare wheel.

According to Hyundai cargo space is rated at 225 litres and can be expanded to 910 litres with the rear seats folded.

Marketing director of Hyundai automotive SA, Stanley Anderson, said: "We have identified the need for a well-priced entry-level hatchback in our range that it equipped with an auto gearbox, specifically aimed at the urban commuter who has to grapple with high traffic volumes and stop-start driving.

"The excellent fuel consumption of the i10 1.1 Motion auto will also appeal to potential customers who are looking for a second car in the family."
