Several motor manufacturers build cars in South Africa, most notably Toyota, Volkswagen, Ford and Nissan.

Luxury German automakers BMW and Mercedes-Benz also have factories in the country. 

Data generated by vehicle specialists Lightstone Auto  shows that 108 827 passenger and light commercial vehicles were produced from January and to June 2019.
