Golf R32 roars into SA

It comes with 184kW and all-wheel drive, while sharing its basic genes with the Golf 5.

However, a number of subtle, yet distinctive features separate the R32 from the rest of the Golf range.

The R32 is kitted with unique front and rear bumpers coupled with larger front and rear spoilers. There are also twin centre-mounted chrome plated exhaust pipes, dark tinted rear light clusters and a chrome R32 badge.

It comes standard with its unique 18-inch alloy wheels coupled with blue brake calipers.

On the inside the R32 gets leather sports seats and a perforated 3-spoke leather sports steering wheel. The pedal cluster and gearshift knobs are branded with the R-line logo.

This Golf is powered by a 3.2-lite V6 engine that delivers 184 kW at 6 300 r/min. Torque is 320 Nm at 2 800 r/min.

The R32 is only be available in the DSG (Direct Shift Gearbox), automatic dual-clutch gearbox.

It does 0 to 100 km/h in 6.2 sec and top speed is 248 km/h.

On the safety side there is a total of six airbags, ABS and Electronic Stability Program (ESP).

The retail price of the R32 is R344 000.

This price includes a 5 year/60 000km Volkswagen AutoMotion Maintenance Plan, 3 year/100 000km warranty and 12 year anti-corrosion warranty.
