GWM goes chic: Stylish C20R in SA

GWM C10’s more-stylish sibling is in South Africa. The C20R offers a 'chic' interior, ground clearance and is backed by a three-year or 45 000km service plan – a first for GWM SA. Check its cerise seats in our gallery!

Cape Town - The new C20R now available in South Africa is based on the automaker’s C10 hatchback, though it can be distinguised by its striking new grille, black wheel-arches and roof rails. There are also a sports SUV-themed front and rear skid plates in a contrasting silver.

The car is sold with 16” alloy rims and has a 172mm ground clearance. According to GWM: "It’s not only suited to the rough and tumble of city driving but also the occasional gravel road."

Powering the new C20R is a 1.5 petrol engine capable of 77 kW/138Nm mated to a five-speed manual. Fuel consumption is listed as 7.7 litres/100 km with CO2 emissions of 179 g/km.

SLEEK INTERIOR

Inside, drivers will be treated to "aluminium-look pedals, cylindrical instrumentation and the tactile nature of the curvy facia".

According to GWM: "Quality, luxury features and flexibility are not always the norms in the compact-car segment but the C20R has all those bases covered, and more…”

Standard kit includes central locking, air-con, power-assisted steering, power windows and external mirrors, remote audio controls, height-adjustable headlights, rear-park assist and CD/MP3 sound system with aux and USB.

The rear seats can be folded and offer reclining fore/aft sliding functionality. In terms of safety, the C20R has two airbags, anti-lock brakes electronic brake pressure distribution and emergency brake assistance. IsoFix child-seat anchors are provided at the rear.
