Ford's EcoSport has Euro debut

Ford will reveal the all-new EcoSport SUV on September 27 at the 2012 Paris auto show – a vehicle the automaker says combines small-car agility and fuel-efficiency with the flexibility of an SUV.

The EcoSport will be launched in South Africa in 2013 - look out for it from mid-year.

Based on Ford’s global B-segment platform, which also underpins the Fiesta range, the EcoSport will also be equipped with the 2012 International Engine of the Year winner, the three-cylinder, one-litre EcoBoost engine.

BUILT IN BRAZIL FOR THE WORLD

Nick Collins, Ford’s global B car vehicle line director, said: “The Ford EcoSport combines the value, quality and fuel-efficiency of Fiesta with the exciting look and feel of a modern SUV. Its stylish design should prove a tempting addition for European customers to Ford’s B segment range, which already includes the innovative B-Max compact multi-activity vehicle and the new Fiesta.”

The EcoSport will also be equipped with Ford Sync in-car connectivity system, which uses voice-activation technology to enable owners to answer phone calls and select music from devices connected via Bluetooth or USB.

Driver assistance technologies include an anti-lock brakes, electronic stability congtrol and hill-start assistance.

The all-new EcoSport is the first global Ford to be developed entirely in South America and was launched in Brazil in September, 2012 after its reveal at the 2012 Auto Expo in New Delhi, India, in January 2012. The EcoSport was introduced in Brazil in 2003.
