Ford reveals limited Mustang GT

NEW YORK, USA — Ford is building a limited-edition Mustang GT to honor the its muscle car's 50th anniversary.

Earlier in April 2014, Wheels24 reported that Mustang owners and fans gathered to celebrate the muscle car's  anniversary at the Castle of Good Hope in Cape Town. The Mustang's  official birthday is April 17 2014.

GT PERFORMANCE PACK

The limited edition muscle car will sport Ford's Mustang GT performance pack that includes Brembo brakes and 19" alloys and Pirelli P-Zero tyres. Its 19" alloys have a unique Y-spoke design inspired by the original Mustang. The front wheels are 9" wide with 255/40R tyres, while the staggered rear wheels are 9.5" wide with 275/40R tyres.

The 50-year limited edition will come in one of the two colours of Ford's logo (white or blue) and buyers can choose from a manual or auto transmission.

It has chromed highlights around the grille, windows and tail lights. The Limited Edition will also be the only 2015 Mustang with a faux fuel-cap badging on the rear in homepage to the position of the original fuel-cap.

TUNED V8 MUSCLE

The GT will be powered by a an upgraded 5.0 litre V8 capable of 313kW/528Nm. The six-speed automatic transmission has limited-slip rear differential while the manual will sport a Torsen differential.

The limited edition will be among the first 2015 Mustangs built when production begins later 2014. Each of the limited edition Mustangs will receive a unique owner's guide in a leather portfolio with a "50-Year" badge.

Ford is showing its limited edition Mustang GT at the 2014 New York auto show, from April 18-27.

Local Mustang fans will finally be able to purchase the Mustang in South Africa when it arrives in 2015.
