FIRST LOOK: New Datsun

YOKOHAMA, Japan  - Datsun is making a comeback in 2013 and ahead of its official launch the automaker released a teaser pic of its new model.

Datsun has revealed sketches giving a preview of its next-generation model which will make it's global debut at the 2013 New Delhi Motor Show in India on July 15 2013.

RETURN OF A LEGEND

The car will be aimed for the Indian market and the first of future Datsun models to be launched from 2014. The company is keeping mum on the vehicle's name but Nissan SA says locals will be able to watch the unveiling via live streaming at the launch during the motor show.

The brand's return was announced in March 2012.

It marks a significant milestone and a new chapter in the history of this legendary automaker aimed for high-growth markets like India, Indonesia and Russia in 2014 to be followed by South Africa later in the year.

Although Datsun models will be individually developed for different markets, the concept will follow a common inspiration. Nissan will support the brand with technical expertise .

Datsun boss Vincent Cobee said: "Datsun will bring competitive products and services, modern and aspirational, while at the same time reassuring, providing superior value and specifically developed for the emerging and ambitious new middle cass in high-growth markets.

"The Datsun cars will be locally developed with the support of Nissan engineers and stylists and will be locally produced.

More information on the car will be available after the official relaunch on July 15. For more news, visit the Datsun website.
