Nissan's Juke-R appears to be taking its self-imposed title of "world’s fastest crossover" rather seriously.
The over-the-top Juke-R moves one step closer to testing as the latest images and video released by Nissan show more details of this 358kW baby crossover.
The mad concept combines the power of Nissan’s GT-R sports coupe - 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6 engine, indeed - with the bold design of the Juke crossover, recently launched in South Africa.
While employing the twin-turbo V6 engine of the GT-R, Juke-R also rides on a suspension sourced from Nissan’s halo car.
NOT JUST GT-R POWER
The Juke’s standard styling, which could hardly be described as pedestrian in the first place, gets a boost in the form of large airdams in the front bumper, flared wheel arches housing the GT-R’s massive 20” forged alloy wheels, a dynamic split rear wing and twin exhausts for transmitting the full aural effect of the V6 engine.
The Juke-R’s cabin is fitted with twin race seats complete with race harnesses and a race-spec roll cage, and a steering wheel and pedals sourced from the GT-R.
Nissan has also confirmed that the Juke-R will go into testing in late November, 2011, before being made available as a “special, road-legal concept car”. However, local Nissan executives mentioned at the South African Juke launch that the R-version will be offered in four European markets only.
Not fair, yes, we know, but Nissan SA also told Wheels24 it is hard at work trying to get Nissan of Japan to expand the Juke product range. Sound promising.
