General Motors South Africa (GMSA) announced that the Opel Corsa OPC Nurburgring Edition will be heading to South Africa in October 2013.

The Nurburgring Edition follows hot on the heels of the Astra OPC launched earlier in 2013 and will be available in limited numbers. It will be one of the most exclusive Opels built yet

Opel’s ties to the Nürburgring Nordschleife date back to the 1960s and as far back as 1930 in terms of its heritage in SA. All Opel vehicles are tested at the 'Ring before entering production, hence it’s name.

The chassis and the turbocharged ecotec 1.6 petrol has been enhanced. With its new tweaks the model produces 154kW at 5850rpm and 250Nm from 2250 rpm (280Nm on overboost).

The model has a new mechanical multi-plate limited slip differential on the front axle.

The model sprints from 0 - 100km/h in 6.8 seconds onto a top a speed of 230km/h. Fuel consumption is rated at 7.6 litres/100km with an emission rating of 178g/km.

The model features a front lip spoiler, a new rear roof-mounted spoiler, dual exhaust pipes and black 18” alloys with Brembo disc brakes.

Inside, Recaro sports seats are wrapped in Nappa leather and model has rain-sensing wipers, auto aircon and an upgraded audio system with USB and Bluetooth.

More details, including pricing, will be made available closer to the model’s October launch.

WOW!! The power and speed is awesome, but it means F-All if it can't stop or stay facing the right direction.

It has mechanical LSD and bigger Brembo brakes, so I think you'll find it will be as good as the new Astra OPC to drive...

I think those issues will be sorted with the new diff and brembo brakes as mentioned in the article. Im guessing this OPC will price above R300 000. Im a huge OPC fan but therse selling prices dont make any sense to me anymore.

Im a big big Opelisti, having owned the Corsa C GSI and the Opel Astra H OPC. But i cant help but feel this car came at wrong time. It was released i think 2012 or 11. We should have got this much earlier. The current corsa model is now old. GM should be working on releasing a new corsa model. They r just killing the brand.

Old news in Europe, now they want to dumb left overs in our country, just like with the Kuga.

"Nurburgring Edition"?? A Nurburgring Edition without a Nurburgring laptime? how pathetic can marketing be?

Reminds me of seeing a Toyota Tazz with REVO stickers.
