Chinese takeover at JIMS

JOHANNESBURG,South Africa - Great Wall Motors is set to dazzle at JIMS as it debuts two new sedans, a compact crossover and several other models soon to be launched in South Africa.

South Africans will be able to view GWM's model line-up at the 2013 Johannesburg International Motor Show, taking place at Nasrec from October 18-27.

Cars on show will include its current range of Steed single- and double-cabs, the facelifted H5 and new C20R crossover hatchback.

New models headed for SA include its C30 and C50 sedans, M4 crossover and H6 SUV.

GWM M4

The M4 is a compact crossover is aimed at youths and boasts a high ground clearance of 180mm+, 16” alloys,  aircon, power windows and mirrors, power steering, rear parking sensors, radio/CD/MP3 player with USB and auxiliary support, as well as Bluetooth.

The M4 is powered by a 1.5 four-cylinder petrol with VVT, making 77kW at 6000rpm and 138Nm at 4200rpm.

GWM C50

The automaker’s "most sophisticated passenger car offering", the C50 C-segment sedan, will arrive in South Africa. It has a 2.7m wheelbase, sleek looks and passenger space that rival segment leaders. Two trim levels are destined for the local market both offering aircon, power steering, electric windows and mirrors and infotainment systems.

The flagship model sports cruise control and rear parking sensors. Under the bonnet there’s a new GW4G15T 1.5 engine capable of 98kW at 5600rpm and 188Nm from 2000 - 4500rpm.

GWM C30

The compact B-segment sedan is aimed at young families who need maximum passenger and luggage space, a good balance of power and economy at an affordable price. It has a 2.61m wheelbase and 510 litres of boot space.

It has 15” alloys, front and rear fog lights. On the safety front it has dual airbags and disc brakes all-round backed by anti-lock brakes with electronic brake-pressure distribution and Isofix child-seat mountings.

The C30 is also powered by 1.5 VVT-I engine with 77kW /138Nm. GWM claims a combined fuel consumption of 6.5 litres/100km with a top speed of 170km/h.
