Celerio sticks to Suzuki innovation

GENEVA, Switzerland - Suzuki is showing its new European-spec Celerio compact, a new type of A-segment vehicle which the automaker says exceeds its category’s standards.

Suzuki added: "The driver-friendly compact size has not been compromised from best-in-class space and utility and has a comprehensive package. The light and rigid body has class-leading low CO2 emissions."

'OUTSTANDINGLY ROOMY'

The European-spec model has a new engine with a dual-injection system for low CO2 emissions, the automaker adds. That and less weight with improved aerodynamics promise 85g/km of CO2, helped by stop/start ignition and a new auto gearbox "that provides fuel economy equal to a manual transmission".

The Celerio is 3.6m long but, Suzuki says, is "outstandingly roomy" even with a boot capacity of  254 litres.

The European-specification Celerio is scheduled to go on sale in Europe by the end of 2014
