PORT ELIZABETH - General Motors SA has announced the arrival of the Opel Astra sedan, marking the return of the four-door to South Africa and adding to the range of hatchbacks such as the Astra OPC.
Christopher Cradock, Opel brand manager at GMSA, said: "The secret is out and there is a lot of excitement at Opel for the Astra sedan. It will be launched in South Africa in October 2013 to follow the high standards forged by the hatch and we expect a warm reception from South Africans who tend to favour sedans."
FOUR MODELS
What he didn't say is that the car is much sexier than the previous booted Astras, with a lean-looking shell and small, fuel-efficient, turbocharged engines.
The four-model Astra sedan range will be made up of the 1.6 Essentia, 1.4 Turbo Essentia, 1.4 Turbo Essentia a/t and the range-topping 1.6 Turbo Cosmo.
Prices will be published when the car launches.
