Toyota has racked up 24 500 sales of its Etios budget hatch/sedan since its launch in May 2012. One year on and the car is having a birthday makeover.
The changes involve a number of tweaks to the shell and cabin.

The Etios is powered by a 1.5 four-cylinder capable of 66kW at 5600rpm and 132Nm at 3000rpm, drives through a five-speed manual transmission and claims a fuel consumption of around six litres/100km.
EXTERIOR
The grille on the top-of-the-ange Xs now has chromed elements. Other changes include body-coloured and prettier exterior mirrors and body-colour door releases.
The rear sports new tail lights for both body styles.
INSIDE
The majority of interior improvements have been made to the Xs seats and materials. The front seats now have height adjustment for the driver, additional cushioning and adjustable head restraints. The current front seats with fixed headrests remain on Xi models.
The rear seat design have been altered to feature larger fixed head restraints.
Now standard on Xs models are 'auto up' power front driver's window and a new audio system. The vent controls have been replaced with chromed knobs and gear lever sports chromed details.
Xi variants now benefit from pre-wiring for door speakers as well as instrument panel speakers. An antenna is standard across the range.
Rubber engine mounts have reduced noise transmission, the exhaust silencer has been modified and the sock-absorber settings have been tuned to reduce suspension noise and improve ride quality.
Toyota’s marketing guy, Glenn Crompton, said: “Toyota’s commitment to engineering precision and continuous improvement, are evident throughout the Etios. With a class-leading 1.5 engine, generous spec and safety kit, affordable price and now some extra gloss thanks to its 2013 rework, you can’t beat it as the consummate all-rounder.”
