According to the Bavarian carmaker the latest 5 Series offers a better driving experience and comfort too.
Whilst three of the engines remain unchanged, two of the six-cylinder power units are more potent.
All models are available with a six-speed manual or Steptronic automatic transmission.
The 5 Series also offers a wide range of new innovations in driver assistance and comfort features. For example it comes with Active Steering, a High-Beam Assistant, BMW Night Vision, a Head-Up Display and, from now on, also with Active Cruise Control featuring a Stop & Go function as well as Lane Change Warning.
There is also an updated iDrive system with eight freely programmable favourite buttons.
In terms of exterior design the car's headlights now come with new clear glass technology, which include transparent glass panels covering the direction indicators and chrome surrounds highlighting the character of the round headlights.
The surrounds on the BMW double kidney grille, in turn, are now flush with the surfaces on the front air dam.
Furthermore BMW also added an additional "light contour" along the side-sills, which BMW says gives the body a "sleeker, more stretched look" from the side.
The taillights have been changed too getting a clear-glass look and LED indicators. Finally, the trim bar around the rear numberplate is now defined even more smoothly and precisely.
BMW also upgraded the interior with better quality fit and finish, while there are new trim options available too.
