“We have the most RS models in our line-up that the company has ever produced at one time.' Audi hopes to wow fans with its performance display at the 2013 Johannesburg International Motor Show.
The Audis on display at 2013 Johannesburg International Motor Show Jims were delivered in containers directly onto its stand at the Johannesburg Expo Centre at Nasrec, some models having never been driven on South African soil.
SHIPPED FROM GERMANY
Audi’s public relations manager Rudi Venter said: “The cars were shipped from Germany, then transported in special containers to the goods-loading entrance of Nasrec. From there they loaded from the larger transporter, on pallets, into smaller containers, one for each car, and then delivered directly to the loading entrance at the back of Hall 6.
"They were then rolled into position on to our stand, still in specially designed protective car covers, purpose-made for each and every individual model. In fact the whole stand display was shipped in containers from Germany. We employ a special team that does this at auto shows around the world.”
The reason for their obsession with vehicular cleanliness? Venter said the cars needed to be absolutely spotless especially the tyres, as cleaning this area "is a very time-consuming process."
RS MODELS ON SHOW
Venter said Audi's 2013 Jims theme is "performance".
“We have the most RS models in our line-up that the company has ever produced at one time. At the Johannesburg motor show in 2011 we were very strong on the eco theme.
"In 2013 we are re-emphasising our performance heritage, and in fact we have flown in a very famous racing driver especially for the show to emphasise our commitment to the enthusiastic element so prevalent in our customers. But of course, our cars are among the leaders when it comes to fuel efficiency, too.”
