WATCH: Oh no! Corvette ZR1 pace car crashes at IndyCar race

General Motor’s Mark Reuss had one job: don't crash the Corvette ZR1 pace car he drove at the 2018 Detroit Grand Prix on Belle Isle.

But that's exactly what he did on Sunday, which led to an almost 30 minute delay of the race to clear debris.

The driver and passenger, Mark Sand, both sustained no injuries according to Autoblog.com.

A statement by GM said: "We are thankful that there were no serious injuries. Both the pace car driver and the series official were taken to the infield care centre, where they were checked, cleared and released."
