Type R vs Nissan Champ: This Cape Town drag race almost went horribly wrong

Cape Town - An unlikely drag race saw a modified Nissan Champ bakkie take on a Honda Civic Type R at the Killarney raceway in Cape Town on Saturday (October 29).

After pulling away, things went horribly wrong for the Champ driver, according to a professional driver Ernest Page who was the race organised by Motorsport South Africa.

The Nissan Champ suffered a broken driveshaft that sent the bakkie careering side-ways.

Quick reactions

The bakkie veered into the path of the Civic causing the driver to slam on the brakes to avoid a nasty crash.

The clip below shows how close the two vehicle came to colliding on track.

We're glad there was no damage and both drivers walked away unscathed.
