An action-packed season awaits the competitors and supporters of INEX Legends Championship.
The regional category will again enjoy title sponsorship from Liqui Moly South Africa for the 2019 championship which will consist of eleven rounds; each featuring three races.
What to look forward to
Five different venues will play host to the category during the season. As has become customary, Zwartkops Raceway will be hosting three rounds with the season opener coinciding with the annual Passion for Speed event at the start of February.

The two rounds at Dezzi Raceway will be consecutive in a bid to relieve transport costs. Red Star Raceway makes a welcome return to the championship with three rounds scheduled for the season; the first of which will see the competitors taking on the anti-clockwise circuit configuration.
In addition, the championship will visit Midvaal Raceway twice with the Phakisa Freeway playing host to the remaining round.
"Given the growth and high standard of racing that we’ve seen in the championship during 2018, we’re eager to start the new season," Category owner and former national, as well as international champion Devin Robertson, elaborates on the 2019 calendar.
We’re quite pleased to have Red Star Raceway back on the calendar. The six-months-per-year clockwise/anti-clockwise layouts effectively make these two different circuits added to our calendar.
'A real privilege'
Through the years, the Passion for Speed event became known to gross the biggest amount of gate fees at Zwartkops Raceway. It is, therefore, a real privilege for us to open our season at this event.”
Although being listed as a regional category in South Africa, the Liqui Moly INEX Legends finds itself on par with similar categories around the globe.

"Unlike various other categories, the bulk of the technical aspects within our championship is being regulated to a similar specification as what you will find abroad," Robertson continues.
This sees the primary focus on pure driver skill. While competing for on-track positions against each other, competitors are also classified according to age and experience. With draws for starting positions and reverse grids our race day are always wide open.
The saloon car success achieved by the likes of Willie Erasmus, Altan Bouw and Clinton Bezuidenhout speaks a lot of the level of racing skill that we produce in this category.”
