Jason Webb reclaims his throne by clinching this year's Supadrift Series title

Jason Webb has reclaimed his Supadrift Series title that he last held in 2015.

After placing third in the championships last year, Cape Town's Webb upped his game this year, came in prepared and took five out of six wins in the championship.

'A dream come true'

Webb feels that having more support and a bigger team backing him has made a big difference to his driving this year.

"Having sponsors and good people backing you really does help with your confidence and worrying less about things. I honestly still can't get over the feeling of driving an 596kW (800hp) Ford Mustang, it's a dream come true. I guess that means I have to do well," reckons Webb.

Jason and his dad 'Speedy' Webb make a great team, but is it unusual having your dad as your mechanic?

"One thing about working with family is that they know you so well that you don't even need to communicate about the little things," reckons Jason about working with his dad.

Big plans in the pipeline

"He knows his stuff and when changes need to be made on the car he just gets it done. So yeah, I'd say the chemistry is pretty amazing. All the effort I put in when I'm on the track, he does the same off the track. I wouldn't be able to do it without him," Webb added.

Jason has big plans for the year ahead, including competing in the Gymkhana GRiD on December 1 in Jozi, which will be his second appearance at this event.

"After getting to compete last year I realised just how damn competitive everyone is about it. It was an eye-opener for sure. I'll definitely be bringing my A-game for GRiD and making the needed adjustments to the car to suit the course. So watch out Luke Woodham, that top step may be mine," recalls Webb.
