Pretoria – Spectators attending the Jaguar Simola hill climb will see three models from the growing PACE family perform at full tilt during the event’s King of the hill days, set to run from 5-6 May.

Fresh from its South African debut in March, the all-new E-PACE will be put to the test on the famed 1.9km hill, where its compact dimensions, inherent agility and built-in Jaguar sports car DNA will be key to its performance. Entered is the E-PACE P300, which is endowed with 221kW and 400Nm, and can launch from 0-100km/h in a rapid 6.4 seconds.

New members

World-renowned British stunt driver Terry Grant will be doing double-duty on the weekend in a pair of F-PACE SUVs. The multiple world record-holder will compete in the King of the hill challenge in a 280kW supercharged Jaguar F-PACE S, while also attempting to complete the course on two wheels in the very same Guinness World Record-holding F-PACE with which he performed the world’s highest loop-the-loop in 2015.

Terry Grant, stunt driver, said: "I’ve been lucky to travel the world performing various stunts at a wide variety of events. But to be invited to the Jaguar Simola Hillclimb, where I can show what the F-PACE can really do, is an absolute highlight for me."

Another new member to the PACE family, which will make its South African market debut in 2019, is Jaguar’s first all-electric vehicle, the I-PACE. The emission-free SUV was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March and will be capable of an 80% capacity recharge in just 45-minutes when using a 100kW DC rapid charger. With a state-of-the-art 90kWh Lithium-ion battery pack, the I-PACE will deliver a range of 480km (on the WLTP cycle).

Electronic car

Jaguar-designed electric motors positioned at each axle give the I-PACE a combined performance of 294kW and 696Nm, all-wheel drive traction and the ability to launch from a standing start to 100km/h in just 4.8 seconds. Pricing and specifications will be announced closer to launch.

The 2018 Jaguar Simola Hillclimb kicks off with Classic Car Friday, on 4 May 2018. On Saturday and Sunday (5-6 May 2018), competitors will race up the stretch off road for the King of the hill title. Tickets for the Jaguar Simola hillclimb start at R120 for day passes, and can be purchased online.
