Cape Town - 2017 has been an eventful year for all things motorsport as we recap some of the most memorable moments in Formula 1, Le Mans, World Rally Cross and more.
Hamilton among the greats
The 2017 F1 champion Lewis Hamilton engraved his name into the history books of motorsport's premium competition after clinching the world title at the Mexican GP. Regarding title victories, Hamilton is now on par with rival Sebastian Vettel and his idol Ayrton Senna, with four trophies each.
Still on F1, Felipe Massa announced his retirement this year (for the second time in his career) however, the Brazilian reiterated that this time it will be for good.
On to Le Mans, Porsche reigned supreme in the worlds oldest active endurance racing competition. Timo Bernhard overtook Ho-Pin Tung in Jackie Chan's LMP2 class Oreca-Gibson with less than an hour to go to claim a 19th Le Mans title for the German constructor.
Special mention - Nicky Hayden
While there has been many ups this year, there has been downs as well. One of which has been the tragic passing of MotoGP racer Nicky Hayden after being involved in a crash. We pay tribute to Hayden and his legacy in the sport.
