Pit crew members have to be precise as those few seconds when removing and refitting car parts contributes towards shaving crucial seconds spent in the pit.

A particular example of hasty execution took place earlier this year in Formula 1 when Ferrari driver Kimi Raikkonen broke his mechanic's leg following a pit stop during the Bahrain grand prix.
Race analysts work in unison with the driver and informing them of how long they can drive with a tank of fuel or the condition of the tyres for example.
