Canary Islands - Czech rally driver, Tomasz Kasperczyk, narrowly avoided death or severe injury when a guardrail halted his rally-spec Ford Fiesta from veering off a cliff during the FIA European Rally Championship’s Rally Islas Canarias.
Lucky to be alive
The incident took place on May 5 and the footage is absolutely terrifying.
We've embedded two videos, one on-board and one filmed from a helicopter, showing just how close Kasperczyk and his co-driver came to rolling down the mountain in the first Super Stage of the weekend.
The clip serves as an important reminder as to why guardrails are imperative to any motorsport event.
