Africa's first 24 Hour Endurance Karting event headed for SA

Johannesburg - The Prokart SSS Club will be hosting Africa’s first and only Premiere 24 Hour Endurance Karting event on 1st and 2nd December 2018.

This prestigious event will be held at Laserfiche Raceway over the 2 days and the entire event will be streamed live together with professional commentary provided by The Voice of Choice, Greg Moloney and his wonderful team.

There will be team and driver interviews, live timing and more. There will be great racing lined up for all drivers and great entertainment, like racing simulators, available for all visitors to the track. There are limited grid slots available for entries.

45 teams driving for charity

Only 45 lucky teams will compete in this Premiere event and 15 are already taken! The event is open to anyone, provided you have the required equipment and drivers to partake, and if you do not, then there will be motors and race spec karts for hire and talented drivers can be arranged for teams who are looking.

Sheldon Halgreen, Chairman of the Prokart SSS Club, says: "The Prokart Africa 24 Hour Endurance event is the first of its kind in Africa and will showcase what South Africa has to offer in the Four Stroke karting category.

"South African karters have often save up a lot of money to attend similar events across our borders, like the Dubai 24 Hour, attended by Formula 1 greats like Fernando Alonso amongst others. Worldwide, 24 Hour Endurance Karting is very popular, there’s the Spa 24 Hour in Belgium, the 24 Hour Le Mans Karting in France, the 24 Hours of America and many more. It’s time that we invited the world to come and participate in our own Africa 24 Hour Endurance. The organisation and level of competition will be first class."

Laserfiche Raceway has hosted many successful 12 hour races over the last 20 years that Prokart SSS Club has been in operation.

“The thrill of racing through the night, watching your competitors to see when they make their pitstops, strategizing over who in your team is going to drive next and how much fuel you’re going to put in at your next pit stop to give you that competitive edge is what Prokart SSS is all about. The karts and Honda GX390 motors are all heavily regulated to ensure fair competition and close racing. The event will follow the Prokart SSS Technical Rules and Regulations, which can be found on our website.

Catherine Robson Children’s home

"The event will be raising funds for the Catherine Robson Children’s home in Vereeniging. The 12 Hour race held in 2017 contributed over R25 000 to this charity and we wish to increase that contribution this year”, says Halgreen.

Sponsors who wish to participate and be part of this historic race can contact the club on email: info@prokartsss.co.za.

There are many sponsorship packages for sponsors to get on board and get maximum exposure, especially with the live streaming service being provided that will allow advertising slots during the broadcast.

So, if you have ever wondered what it would be like to compete at Le Mans, or even just go head to head against other drivers of your skill level, this is the closest you are going to get to it in local endurance motorsport on a budget. The Prokart Super Single Endurance Kart Series is without doubt the most affordable series in the country. You will not find a more affordable and fun way to go racing. Start a team today and start practising for the big 24 Hour event and become part of history.

The next race will be at Zwartkops Kart Circuit on 20th May 2018. For more info, visit the website here.
