ALZENAU, Germany - Hyundai will race three i20s at the 2014 Rally of Portugal, round 4 of the World Rally championship, in April.

Lead driver Thierry Neuville will continue to race the No.7 car and Juho Hänninen will drive car No.8, after a promising performance at Swedish Rally earlier in February 2014. The third car (No.20) will be driven by Dani Sordo.

The team said from its base in Alzenau, Germany, that it will also race in the Fafe Rally Sprint, the now traditional event organised as a precursor to Portuguese rally.

The one-day event will be held on March 29 2014 on the Fafe-Lameirinha stage which attracts hundreds of thousands of spectators each year.

Hyundai team boss Michel Nandan said: “Having three cars will allow us to continue our data collection and to accumulate more mileage in our debut WRC season.
“We have a good line-up with Thierry, Juho and Dani. Each will bring their experience and give their own feedback to help with development of the WRC car.

"Thierry’s level of performance combined with Juho’s skills on gravel and Dani’s experience and excellent track record in Portugal makes them a very good choice for the event.

“We are also very happy to take part in the sprint the weekend before the rally. It will not only be a warm-up for the event but also a fantastic occasion for hundreds of thousands fans on one of most famed stages in the history of the World Rally championship."
