SA champ signs-up for China series

GUANGDONG, China - KCMG has announced that 2013 Formula BMW Asia Cup champion, Matthew Swanepoel, will represent the team in Formula Masters China Series in 2014.

Swanepoel (19) began kart racing in 2001 and became an SA national and regional karting champion. Swanepoel competed in the KwaZulu-Natal Karting championship and the South African National Rotax Max Challenge in 2010.

Swanepoel’s impressive performance in the 2011 SA Engen Supakarts National championship earned him the Super Rok crown.

RELISHING THE START

In 2014, Swanepoel looks forward to racing for Cebu Pacific Air by KCMG in the VW-powered Asian entry-level formula series.

Swanepoel said: “Firstly, it is an absolute privilege to be invited to join KCMG, a team which is involved in WEC, Super Formula and Formula 3. I believe that KCMG will give me every possible opportunity to do exceptionally well in Formula Masters in 2014.

Deputy managing director for KCMG John O’Hara said: “We are very excited about having Matthew in the team and we look forward to working with him.”

The 2014 Formula Masters’ starts on May 11 at Zhuhai International Circuit, China.
