Nick vs the X fighters

"I always liked motorcycles and rode pillion on my Dad's bike when I was 10 years old. When I was 13 my Dad was working on a film shoot at a MX race, he persuaded me to join him. I was amazed what guys were doing on 2 wheels and nagged my Dad until I got a bike of my own. I've been hooked ever since."

Nick started competing in regional and national motocross events when he was 17 years old. He won regional colours in 2000 and then in early 2002 he moved across to FMX where he found his niche. "I'd always enjoyed doing the jumps in motocross, so when a friend was doing FMX I tried it out and liked it and became a good freestyler." 2002 was the first South African FMX Championship and Nick won. In 2003 he started riding professionally and since then 'Sick Nick' has dominated the FMX scene in SA, winning nearly every contest he entered (when he was fit and not recovering from an injury). In was in 2004 that Nick started competing internationally, following that he participated in both of the 2005 and 2006 Night of the Jumps series in Europe before going on to help organise the first Masters of Dirt sessions in South Africa.

Today, as part of the FMX4EVER team, Nick travels around the globe to countries such as Brazil, Turkey and Egypt to inspire the public with world-class freestyle motocross. Apart from his appearance at the tour stop in Pretoria in 2014, Nick has been so busy with FMX demos that he has not been able to ride as many contests as he has done in the past. When he gets the chance, you can be sure that he will push the limit with his unique South African style in any competition he participates in.
