WATCH | Toyota Gazoo Racing gives a video recap on #Dakar2020 Stage 9

Stage 9 of the 2020 Dakar rally saw Toyota Gazoo Racing's (TGR) Nasser Al-Attiyah make up ground to overall leader, Carlos Sainz (Mini). The Qatari, part TGR's Dakar squad, now only trails Sainz by a mere 24 seconds and could, potentially, seize the overall lead of the rally.

Giniel de Villiers is more than 50 minutes off the pace, and was left stunned by Al-Attiyah's pace. De Villiers is suffering from a neck injury sustained during last Friday's (10 Jan) stage. The discomfort played a role in him losing more time in the overall standings.

Bernhard ten Brinke and Fernando Alonso finished the stage in strong positions and moved up into the top ten overall.
