WATCH | The meerkats are back, this time they 'steal' Giniel's Toyota Dakar Hilux

You have to give it to Toyota South Africa: they've really owned the build-up to the #Dakar2020!

If you didn't see the automaker's latest social media feeds, you've really been missing out on some awesome content. And they did it again with another brilliant ad.

Epic execution

Posted to social media in December, local Dakar hero Giniel de Villiers, is seen enjoying a hot beverage in his trailer somewhere in the desert. Clearly a nod in Saudi Arabia's direction. As he's about to hit the sand in his Dakar-built Hilux, he hears the bakkie roaring away. That V8 engine screaming at full tilt!

And then we see who, or what, stole the Hilux: it's those cheeky meerkats again!

In a hilarious turn of events, one meerkat stands on another's shoulders and steers the Hilux through and over a couple of sandy dunes. Then De Villiers steps in and demands the key from the meerkats.
