WATCH: SA spectator hit by truck at Dakar Rally

A South African spectator at the Dakar Rally sustained a broken femur on stage five and was admitted to hospital after an incident with a truck. 

According to Motorsport.com, Kamaz driver Andrey Karginov was disqualified for not stopping to attend to the injured man.

The spectator was part of group of people situated on the sand dune in an unsecured area. 

Kamaz team boss told Motosport.com: "As he [Karginov] was driving up one of the ascents, there was a group of five spectators in the path of the truck. Four managed to clear off but one tripped in the sand and his leg was caught under the rear wheel of the truck."
