Toyota Gazoo Racing's struggles at the 2020 Dakar seems to know no end. Lead driver, Nasser Al-Attiyah lost more time to overall leader, Carlos Sainz (Mini), while Giniel de Villiers inadvertently hurt his neck.
According to team principal, Glynn Hall: “It has been a really tough opening week to the rally. Everyone has had to adapt to the new country, and the terrain we’ve encountered thus far has been really rough."
Of all the four teams Toyota Gazoo Racing entered for this year's race, only Al-Attiyah and co-driver, Mathieu Baumel, are within a realistic chance of winning the Dakar. For De Villiers, he'll be more cautious going forward to prevent further damage to his neck - depending on his medical check.
