Battle on for local karters at Killarney

What: WP Regional Kart Championships Round 6
Where: Killarney Kart Circuit, Cape Town
When: 23 August 2014

A good long-term weather forecast has local karters rubbing their hands in anticipation of an action-packed sixth round of the 2014 Western Cape Karting Championships at Killarney on  Saturday (August 23).

Sparks can be expected in the high school Junior Max 125s where Delano Fowler (TonyKart) will be out to defend his narrow championship lead over brothers Kohen and Henry Bam.

There is an exciting battle looming behind them for fourth in the title chase between the increasingly competitive Dino Stermin (Zanardi), Chadley Swartz (Kosmic) Giordano Lupini (Zanardi), Isabella Fowler (TonyKart), Sebastian Boyd (Kosmic) and Dario Busi (TonyKart).

TOUGH BATTLES

Luke Herring will want to return to his usual dominant self after dropping heats to Jurie Swart (Birel) and Julian van der Watt (Zanardi) in the open Max Challenge 125cc championship but don’t discount, Eugene Deneyssen (TonyKart) Kohen Bam (Zanardi), Jonathan Aberdein (TonyKart) and Joshua Dolinschek (Kosmic) who are all capable of stealing podium spots

JP Hamman is another who will be looking to maintain his advantage in the Maxterino 60cc primary school title chase with arch rivals Aidan Strydom (TonyKart), Charl Visser (Zanardi) and Jason Coetzee desperate to stop him. Other drivers ready to dispose the regular class leaders include Joseph Oelz (Zanardi) Tate Bishop (Zanardi), Andrew Rackstraw, Tyler Croy and Storm Lanfear among several others.

DD2 Gearbox Championship leader Jonathan Thomas (Partners Hair Zanardi) will want to score a few race wins this weekend but his Zanardi rivals Stephen Wells (Zanardi) and Luke Van Rensburg (Zanardi) will be out to prevent that. Johan Hamman (Birel) is on a comeback quest in DD2 Masters after missing a few earlier rounds and Jacques De Bruyn, Vic Hodoul and Lourens van Rensburg will do their utmost to beat him.

Troy Dolinschek (Top Kart) maintained remains unbeaten in the baby under-8 Cadets with 15 wins on the trot this year but Jason MacBeath, Paul Malcolm and Kyle Visser, Valentino Hoffman, Joaquin De Oliveira, Mischa Williams and Malan Louw will be among the kids out to prevent him wrapping up the title early.

And never forget the ever-enthusiastic Cape Clubmen with Dale Fourie, Dylan Mitchell, brothers James and Paul Fraser Mike Cook among a most capable field.
