BTCC test for SA driver Jayde Kruger

SNETTERTON, England – After a season of success in the British Formula Ford championship South African Jayde Kruger will later in October take the next step in his racing career with a British Touring Cars test-drive in an Airwaves Racing Ford Focus .

Kruger, 26, will take his prize drive at Snetterton on October 29 - 20 laps to be mentored by Airwaves Racing driver Mat Jackson, a multiple BTCC winner and the only person to finish all 30 races on the BTCC 2014 calendar.

NEW CHALLENGE

Kruger, who provisionally clinched the Formula Ford championship on October 18 at Brands Hatch, is looking forward to the experience: “I haven’t driven anything with a roof over it since I was 17, back home in South Africa, so there is going to be a lot to learn - but the prospect of driving a BTCC car is really exciting.

"It's a fantastic championship, something I’d love to have a go at, but I'm realistic about the chances of a deal dropping into my lap. You can always hope, though.”

Airwaves Racing team boss David Bartrum said: “In 2013 we were pleased to test Formula Ford drivers Dan Cammish and Harrison Scott who both showed great promise. We’ve been watching Jayde’s progress this season and he’s a very competent single-seater racer – I’m sure he will adapt well to the Ford Focus.”
