SEE | Here are the five most fuel efficient cars in SA

accreditation

• Fiesta most fuel efficient car in SA

• Kwid the only petrol option in the list

• Audi, BMW, Mercedes each have a car in the list

With fuel prices set for an increase in July, South African motorists will soon find themselves on the same price levels as before lockdown. It will no doubt irk many, but unfortunately, there is little one can do about it.

However, if you are in the market for a new car and fuel efficiency plays a significant role, then the following vehicles in our list could be of interest.

The Ford Fiesta 1.5 diesel is the stingiest when it comes to sipping fuel, with the automaker claiming 3.3-litres/100km. The next vehicle is the BMW 220d coupé on 4.0-litres/100km.

The only petrol car in the list is the Renault Kwid, equipped with the carmaker's automated manual transmission (AMT). According to Renault, this gearbox helps the Kwid to achieve a fuel return of 4.4-litres/100km.
