As South African motorists brace for record fuel price increases, we take a look at the petrol prices around the world from the cheapest to the most expensive in terms of what our neighbours are paying for their fuel.

Venezuela is still the cheapest fuel paying country according to GlobalPrices.com motorists paying as little as $0.01 per litre of petrol.

While in China, motorists cough-up more than $2 for a litre of petrol - the most expensive in the world by far.

In Africa

Algeria is leading the continent with low-priced petrol costs but in Southern Africa, Botswana has the lowest price for petrol with $0.76 per litre.
