Two-time world Formula 1 champion Fernando Alonso has announced that he will end his career in the sport at the end of this season.
Speculation is rife in the motorsport fraternity that the Spaniard will participate in IndyCar for McLaren, according to the Associated Press.
Alonso won 32 grands prix in a career spanning more than 18 years; he has raced for Minardi, Renault, McLaren and Ferrari.
The veteran added a Le Mans 24 Hours race trophy to his name in June when he raced for Toyota Gazoo Racing.
