Daniel Ricciardo will spend two seasons with Renault before joining McLaren in 2021. In fact he may only race in a handful of grand prix this year due to the cancellation of many races because of the coronavirus pandemic.
The season will get underway on July 5 according to the sport's organisers. While some drivers have been showing off their skills on streaming service Twitch, the Australian has a novel way of keeping his reactions sharp: driving his Polaris 4x4 through a sea of trees.
The Renault driver posted a video on Instagram captioned 'reflex training' which shows GoPro footage of the 30-year-old's supreme car control through a forest.
The seven-time GP winner will join McLaren next season, replacing Carlos Sainz Jr who will join Ferrari in 2021.
Take a ride with Ricciardo in his Polaris and enjoy the Aussie's driving skill. The clip certainly makes us want to see some racing and in particular Ricciardo back in a racing car.
Ricciardo told CNN "that he was in the running to join Ferrari before they plumped for Sainz."
