'Ricciardo to Ferrari would seem like a match made in heaven' - reader

Earlier in September a wild rumour has emerged from Italy involving former Red Bull team mates Daniel Ricciardo and Sebastian Vettel.

Some believe that with Charles Leclerc taking over the de-facto 'number 1' role at Ferrari, quadruple world champion Vettel's position has become untenable.

READ: Could Daniel Ricciardo be Sebastian Vettel's new replacement at Ferrari?

At the same time, Sky Italia and La Gazzetta dello Sport are floating the idea that Daniel Ricciardo would be the ideal replacement for Vettel.

We asked Wheels24 readers if Vettel can return to form and be Ferrari's #1, or should Daniel Ricciardo replace him?

Reader Robert Phillips wrote in to us all the way from Australia and shared his views: "Sebastian Vettel is a four-time F1 World Champion. However, as we all know that when Daniel Ricciardo turned up in his first year of racing he had Vettel for breakfast at Red Bull.

"Seb makes some shocking decisions these days in my opinion, and he doesn't seem to be as sharp at Ferrari as he formally was at Red Bull.

"Ricciardo's decision to leave Red Bull at the end of 2019 had me completely bewildered too because Renault is so far off the pace it isn't even funny. I hope the $$$ are keeping him happy.

"Now, in answer to your question (Do you think Ricciardo could replace Vettel at Ferrari?)...

Ricciardo to Ferrari seems like a match made in heaven. He speaks the lingo and he is of Italian descent. He can drive and he is very hungry and eager to succeed.

So it would be a fabulous move if the doors open up for the Western Australian product that is Daniel Ricciardo.

Ferrari is off the pace at the moment and they really need to lift their game. Until recently with Charles Leclerc's two wins, their race day strategy seems off. But things seemed to have changed this weekend in Singapore judging by their new car setup and changes, and the performance of the drivers.

If Ricciardo has a sniff like a 'Blood Hound' that Vettel is on the outer with the "Prancing Horse" then he needs to gallop down to Marenello ASAP.

Please note this reader letter was sent before the end of the 2019 Singapore Grand Prix.
