• This weekend's Eifel Grand Prix takes place at the Nurburgring in Nurberg, Germany.
• The race was added to the Formula 1 calendar after several races were canceled due to the impact of the coronavirus.
• Formula 1 hasn't staged a race at the circuit since 2013, when German Sebastian Vettel won for Red Bull.
Nurburgring sees the return of Formula 1 after seven-year absence as part of the unusual 2020 calendar. The Eifel Grand Prix is the eleventh round of the season, named after the mountainous region between Rhineland-Palatinate and North Rhine-Westphalia.
Located in the Eifel mountains, the weather can be unpredictable and the drivers will have their hands full at the Nurburgring's modern F1 circuit which has a race distance of 308.617km over 60 laps and a circuit length of 5.148km.
There's an 80% chance of rain on Friday and 60% on Saturday and Sunday. The temperature will reach a peak of 14 degrees Celsius over the weekend with a low of nine degrees expected for Sunday's race. The unpredictability of the weather brings the choice of tyres into the conversation and it'll be interesting to see what the teams decide on.
German fans
There'll be 20 000 German fans at the race this weekend as the sport opens up grand prix to spectators in certain locations. It's likely many of them will be rooting for Mercedes this weekend. But the last time F1 raced at the Nurburgring it was German native Sebastian Vettel who won in the Red Bull.
Vettel, who will join Aston Martin racing next season, is in his final year at Ferrari and has fond memories of the circuit. "Obviously we're back in Germany, so good news for me," Vettel said.
The 33-year-old won his fourth and last world drivers' title in 2013 and heads into this weekend's race with just 17 points from 10 races.

Ferrari race engineer Riccardo Adami says: "It's been a long time since we've been there (Nurburgring) and never with the new (hybrid) power unit, it's also quite tough on the tyres in general."
"With changeable weather conditions being in October it will be challenge in this respect to see when it's raining and when it's not."
Seven-time F1 champion Michael Schumacher holds the lap record at the Nurburgring with a 1min29.468 set in 2004.
While it's unlikely that the Ferrari drivers will challenge for a win or podium place this weekend, the team has secured 14 wins, 41 podium finishes and 13 pole positions at the famed German circuit.
