Bottas and Hamilton


It was a Mercedes 1-2 victory in Sochi as Lewis Hamilton extends his lead over Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel to 50 points.

Valtteri Bottas looked to have claimed the win but team orders instructed him to allow Lewis Hamilton to pass ahead of the Finn.

Birthday boy Max Verstappen put in an inspired performance having started the race in 19th position, only for him to power through the grid and finish in 5th.

It was a race to forget for Toro Rosso duo Brendon Hartley and Pierre Gasly as their participation in Sochi ended early.

1. Valtteri the gentleman

Bottas has a fantastic race from pole yet he allowed Hamilton pass like a gentleman after been given team orders.

It looked as if Valtteri Bottas would cross the finish line ahead of team mate and second-placed Hamilton but it was not to be in Russia.
